Duplin General Hospital Foundation
The Duplin General Hospital Foundation was chartered in 1983
and became an affiliate of the UHS Foundation in September 2007. The
organization hosts fundraising events throughout the year to further the
hospital’s ability to provide high-quality patient care.
Through the Community Benefits Grants Committee, the
Foundation distributes grant funds provided by University Health Systems of
Eastern Carolina and the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation to nonprofit community
organizations in Duplin County. Goals of the program are to educate people
about disease prevention and management, provide people with the knowledge and
tools to be successful in their own health care and to focus on nutrition,
physical activity, diabetes prevention and management and obesity. Past
recipients of grant-funded programs include Duplin County Health Department,
Duplin County Schools and the Boys and Girls Club.
With great support from the community in 2008, the
Foundation raised funds to promote health and wellness programs, public
awareness and hospital upgrades and improvements.
